Hi Everybody!

I am excited to present the new artwork for Eclectric, designed by 3-time GRAMMY-winning graphic artist Kevin Reagan!

Mr. Reagan has created artwork for such CDs as Taking the Long Way by The Dixie Chicks, In Your Honor by The Foo Fighters, Ray of Light and Music by Madonna, Bitter by Meshell Ndegeocello, Secret Story and We Live Here by Pat Metheny - just to name a few. Most of these CD covers are among my favorite CD covers ever. Some of these CDs are among my favorite albums ever..

The fact that Kevin happens to be the designer for my album as well, is a complete coincidence. I'm still in disbelief and cannot describe how lucky I feel. Needless to say that he did an incredible job on this one. Hope you enjoy the new look as much as I do!

Hi there!

We've just finished mastering the CD at Sterling Sound NYC yesterday. Sterling is one of the finest mastering plants in the United States and, I honestly think, in the world. The master was done by Steve Fallone, engineer for Return To Cookie Mountain by TV On The Radio, Room on Fire by The Strokes and Dreamer by Eliane Elias, among countless other albums. Steve did an amazing job on Eclectric and I am super excited about how the CD sounds now!

The next step is pressing. That will take place over the next few weeks. For now, you can preview 4 newly mastered tracks in my MySpace player. Let me know how you like the new sound. Check back soon!

Hi Everybody!

Eclectric will be distributed nationally by Fontana Distribution. Fontana is one of the 3 major marketing & distribution divisions of Universal Music Group.

Hyman Katz (Co-Founder/President of Rendezvous Entertainment) and I met with 3 Fontana representatives last week at the Universal offices in New York. Incredibly nice people. We went out for breakfast later that morning somewhere in 9th Ave. Very much looking forward to working with them on this release.

I'll be going to Los Angeles in the last week of March. At Rendezvous, we are planning to work on details for the coming CD and shoot a video for 'Driving Away'!

Hi there!

I'm back in NYC! Had an incredible time in Los Angeles, it was so nice and warm out there, I didn't want to leave!

At Rendezvous we got a plenty of things accomplished over these three weeks - met with a lot of great people, went through details and ideas for the coming release and worked on a few other things. One of them was shooting a video for Driving Away. We spent a day at this green screen studio in North Hollywood and ended up with enough footage to send out to Europe for post production. It's now being edited by two graphic artists Praful and Vimal in Amsterdam. They are adding graphics and drawings to the video - for instance, mustache and horns over my face and head (just kiddin - hope not, haha :)) I will post the video on YouTube as soon as it's finished and ready for consumption. Sit tight!

We also met with Fontana Distribution people at this gigantic black marble NBC/Universal tower in Universal City. I played a short set of songs for about 40 Fontana and Rendezvous staff members in a huge pencil-box-like conference room with an enormously long conference desk in the middle. It was a lot of fun, although, I must admit, at the beginning I did get a little nervous. I also did another performance for Fontana and an acoustic piano/vocals showcase at Universal Publishing during this trip.

Besides work, I had a blast hanging out and partying with my new friends at Rendezvous and even got to catch up with some old friends from Boston, that now live in LA. One of them is Ruslan Sirota, who used to be my roommate at Berklee. He is a pretty damn accomplished pianist and keyboard player. Right now he is in Europe performing with Stanley Clarke. This summer Ruslan is going on tour with Seal. Check out this guy's page, he is among my top friends on MySpace.

SVOY - Electric

- SVOY was born in Russia and always had music in his life. While he was younger, he took classical jazz and piano classes, and then went to Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then started working on constructing his own lyrics and sound.

SVOY's music in his album, Electric, has a mix of different sounds, which includes electronica, rock and R&B.

Each song on the album has a little different beat and sound. To whom can you compare SVOY within the music industry? Mix up a little Justin Timberlake with maybe some Craig David and some electronica beats, and you might find something similar. However, SVOY really has his own sound.

If you are a true music phene, and are looking for something new, instead of getting frustrated with the overplayed songs on the radio, then Electric is definitely a great album to check out.

Russian wunderkind Svoy earned his wings at some of the world’s finest musical institutions like the Russian Academy of Music, and the Berklee College of Music. However, his career took a different path than that of his first love, jazz.

After winning the 2004 John Lennon songwriting competition, Svoy wrote, performed and produced his debut for Rendezvous Entertainment, titled Eclectric.

On Eclectric, Svoy crosses back and forth between indie electronic brilliance and overt pop cheese. You’ll find yourself being lost in some cool Postal Service-like compositions when suddenly the vibe is shattered, and you discover you’re actually trapped in a Richard Marx album. If nothing else, Eclectric is quite a blend of inspiration. Svoy’s gleaming, breathy, high-pitched voice can move the ladies like a coconut-oiled Jon Secada, but underneath the sheen is a hip New York icon yearning to break free.

You can almost taste it, but unfortunately, it never becomes tangible.

If Svoy sounds this purified with a self-produced disc, I shudder to think of what he’ll sound like when a major gets it’s grubby little hands on him. This kid could find himself among the very brightest shooting stars in the business.

Let’s just hope he’s smart enough to invest his earnings well.

Svoy was born in a small port town in the Russian Far East. At a young age, he took an interest in music and moved to Moscow to attend the Russian Academy of Music. He impressed his professors and was offered a scholarship to study jazz at Boston's Berklee College of Music, the word's largest independent music school. In Boston, he experimented with different genres and discovered that he didn't want to be limited by just playing jazz. "I entered Berklee as a jazz pianist and left as a pop electronica artist," the talented singer says in a press statement. "I think a lot of my professors won't forgive me for that."

He wrote and produced all the songs on his debut "Electric" that was picked up by Rendezvous Records. Lead single taken from the album is "Driving Away," a gorgeous pop song with dreamy harmonies, a compelling rhythm section and a deliciously hooky chorus. Fans of Imogen Heap and comparable electro-pop will be in for a treat.

Mixing all elements of electronica, with a strong pop sensibility, New York-based artist Svoy’s recent release, “Eclectric”, is an impressive journey through the mind of a truly gifted artist. Growing up in a small port city in the Russian Far East, and attended the Russian Academy of Music to study with the legendary and beloved Russian bebop pianist Igor Bril. He later went on to Boston’s Berklee College of Music, majoring in Jazz piano, but ended up focusing on the electronic genre. This proved to be a beneficial decision for the young Svoy, winning the John Lennon Songwriting contest in 2006. His album, “Eclectric”, is definitely a New York album. The album starts off with Svoy’s single, the garage –inspired “Driving Away”. His melodic and dreamy vocals seem to hover well over the fast and heavy jungle beat. Later on down the album, songs like “I Don’t Love” and “Make You Mine” show more of the artist’s ambient side, minimalist beats and light keys over symphonic vocals. It’s great to have an artist spread across a genre and not have every song have the monotonous “oonce oonce oonce oonce” that most New York based electronic artists use. My favorite song on the album will have to be the seven-plus minute opus, “Shy”. The artist’s clever orchestration really makes the song effortlessly shine on well into its seven minute mark without getting tired or become boring. That in itself is the beauty of this album- it’s a pop album that grasps the aspects of electronica that make it great (synths, breaks, auto-tune vocals), while adhering to the pop formula (verse-chorus-verse, getting to the hook in under thirty seconds, keeping the songs at “Single” length). The only thing I’m going to recommend to this artist, stay away from the John Mayer sound that “Cared More” touches on…little too college alt-rock for my taste. For more information: www.svoy.com

"The original release date for this gem was 2007. Yes it's a little late but I enjoy spreading great music. Eclectric is different from most of the poptronica I listen to. It wasn't an instant love affair in the beginning but it has definitely grown on me. Eclectric is melody and harmony rich, a little dreamy and is the perfect soundtrack to chill to.
